PUYALLUP, WA — Offering a prime example of Puyallup police tenacity, one officer doggedly tracked down a man who was accused of smashing out another driver's window in a fit of road rage, sending broken glass onto the victim's infant child. 1100-block of Seventh Avenue Southeast

A Puyallup officer spotted a driver who the officer recognized as someone with a Pierce County warrant for both possession of a controlled substance and a stolen firearm. Additionally, the officer knew the driver had a suspended license (DWLS).

After pulling over the driver, the officer seized methamphetamine, heroin, and a variety of prescription pills before turning the driver over to a Pierce County deputy.

Sometime overnight someone broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole some tools and a jacket.

Runaway Recovery

400-block of Spring Street

While arresting a male subject for his multiple PPD warrants, officers contacted another male as he rode past on a bicycle without a helmet. The second male is a chronic runaway and was once again listed as missing. He also had a pick-up order out of Remann Hall. He was booked and removed from system as a missing person.

DWLS

100-block of East Meeker

A driver who stopped for an obstructed license plate reportedly admitted to the enforcing officer that the truck was unregistered and uninsured, and that not only was his license currently suspended, but he also had several warrants for DWLS.

Additionally, the officer found the license plate on the truck did not actually belong on any vehicle at all. The driver was arrested.

Burglary

1400-block of North Meridian

Sometime in the past two weeks someone broke into the victim’s storage unit and stole several household items and electronics. Report to ISU.

Obstructing, Felony Warrant #1917301232

1400-block of East Main Avenue

An officer observed a known male who has a felony warrant for his arrest. The subject ran from the officer who ended up catching him. He was booked.

Theft

3500 S. Meridian - South Hill Mall

A man and woman entered Macy's carrying Macy's bags the woman took earlier in the day. Together, the pair loaded the bags with nearly $1,000 in merchandise before walking out of the retailer.

As the couple left the department store, Macy's loss prevention staff attempted to stop them. The man reportedly punched and kicked the loss prevention staff before fleeing empty-handed.

The pair was last seen fleeing the mall area in a beige 1999 Mercedes 430 sedan.

3500 S. Meridian - South Hill Mall

A woman who was arrested at Macy's for theft later at the city's jail dropped from multiple layers of clothing a small baggy of meth.

Use of Drug Paraphernalia

3717 S. Meridian - Petco

Petco employees called police to report a woman was refusing to the leave the store's restroom at closing time. An officer arrived and was able to coax the woman out, but as she walked by the officer she dropped a syringe loaded with heroin.

After the woman admitted the needle contained heroin and her subsequent arrest, the officer found a second loaded syringe. The woman, the officer learned, was out on bail for previous drug and theft charges.

DUI

1300 Fairview Dr.

A woman who was pulled over for lane violations later returned BAC samples well over the legal limit. She was arrested for drunk driving.

Assault

1700-block of W. Main

A female discovered that her boyfriend had been cheating on her with their neighbor. The female promptly went into the neighbor’s apartment and angrily punched her several times. She was arrested and booked.

UPCS / UPDP / Obstructing

100 10th Ave. S.E.

An officer attempted to stop three suspicious males on bicycles (no helmets, no lights, etc.). Two of the males immediately fled. One of the males failed to navigate past a cement pillar as he was fleeing.
After gracefully flipping over his handlebars, he was arrested. He was found to have a felony DOC warrant and methamphetamine on his person. He will be booked after being cleared from the hospital.
The others were not located.

Trespassing

812 South Hill Park Dr. - Holiday Inn Express

A woman who has repeatedly loitered at the Holiday Inn Express lobby, despite being asked not to, usually becomes argumentative but typically flees before police arrive. On this day, however, she was arrested.

2505 E. Main Ave. - Linden Lane Apartments

The victim’s Amazon package (containing dog food) was stolen.

UPDP / Search Warrant

407 Valley Ave. N.E. - Meridian Pointe Apartments

An officer located a female passed out in her parked vehicle with drug paraphernalia present. Once awake, she stepped out of the vehicle and dropped a small baggie of heroin on the ground. She admitted she had been smoking heroin in the vehicle before passing out.
She was arrested and refused consent to search her vehicle. She was booked, and her vehicle was impounded for a search warrant.

1600-block of East Main Avenue

Between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m., the victim’s blue 2007 Yamaha motorcycle was stolen.

3800 Third St. S.E.

A woman recently reported her car was stolen on June 12 sometime between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. She said she took so long to make a report because she was calling "everywhere" to see if it was impounded.

Paraphernalia

745 River Rd. - Bean Tree Espresso

A community member called police after observing a man in a car tap his inner arm as if he was preparing to inject something — possibly heroin. When the officer arrived on scene, he found the man with a syringe by his side.

After showing signs of "severe narcotic impairment" as he spoke to the officer, the man dropped a metal tin with heroin residue and a tourniquet from his shoe as he got out of his vehicle.

The man tried to say the items were not his. He was arrested.

A hanging plant basket ($300 value) and an American flag were stolen from outside of a business.

500-block of S. Meridian

The victim’s Apple iPhone8 was stolen at this location. An officer completed follow up and entered the phone as stolen.

Hit & Run / Reckless Endangerment / Malicious Mischief

In an apparent fit of road rage, a man broke out the window of another driver's car, sending glass shards onto the victim's infant child. The man fled before police arrived.

Fraud

800-block of 29th Avenue Southeast

The victim discovered that he was being billed nearly $4,000 by Verizon for a fraudulent account that was opened in his name. Report to ISU.

Warrant / False Statement / UPDP / Search Warrant

929 E. Main Ave. - Puyallup Court

Two men were caught using heroin behind the courthouse. One initially lied about his name to hide a Puyallup-based warrant. The other man handed over the heroin, but refused to allow a further search of the vehicle.

Both men were arrested.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery

812 S. Hill Park Dr. - Holiday Inn Express

A Ford F-150 previously reported stolen in Puyallup was found at the hotel parking lot. The ignition was punched and the license plates were from a different vehicle. The truck was impounded and partial prints were taken as evidence.

FIR / Warrant / False Statement / UPDP

4114 Seventh St. S.W. - Lindbrook Apartments

A neighbor reported that numerous people were going in and out of an apartment and the tenant was out of town. Officers contacted three of the involved subjects in a vehicle outside. One male lied about his name to conceal a non-extraditable misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested and found to have drug paraphernalia. He was booked.
Another male fled into the apartment and out the back window upon seeing officers.
A female in the apartment was found to have a felony warrant out of Spokane for dangerous drugs and she was arrested/booked.
The tenant advised via phone that the drugs inside the apartment that were in plain view were not his, and that he wanted them removed. Six grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of heroin were seized.

3900-block in 10th Street Southeast

Sometime overnight, a 2009 Ford work truck had the gas tank cut/punctured and drained.

North Meridian and North Levee Road

A couple reported the theft of their silver 2000 Camaro. According to the victim, her husband left the car on the side of the road after running out of gas. When he returned to retrieve the car, it was gone.

DUI Collision

1400 N. Meridian

Following a collision crash the driver appeared to be impaired. While speaking with officers, the man provided BAC samples nearly triple the legal limit. He also had two previous DUI arrests.

He was booked.

Theft

807 River Rd. - Burger King

The victim reported that his small, bright orange sports bicycle (with 4 pegs) was stolen from the trash shed where it had been locked up.

Hit & Run / Reckless Driving / Reckless Endangerment / Mal Misch (Follow Up)

North Levee Road and North Meridian

An officer following up on the incident involving a road-rager who smashed another driver's window, sending glass on the driver's infant passenger, was able to positively ID the aggressor. After multiple trips to Spanaway, the officer eventually found the man who smashed the window, obtained a confession, and then arrested the man.

Package Theft

4000-block of 21st Street Place Southeast

A white female associated with a white BMW M5 stole a package from the victim’s porch.

The victim’s car window was broken out and a MacBook Air computer was stolen.

The victim’s car window was broken out and a 50-inch television was stolen.
