Sex Offender Arrested, Guns Stolen: Puyallup Police Blotter

The following crime information has been supplied by the Puyallup Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 19, 2013

Sex offender arrested: A 36-year-old convicted sex offender was arrested and booked on felony charges after first giving police a false name. Authorities discovered a Pierce County Sheriff’s Office warrant for failing to register as a sex offender and a misdemeanor warrant from Puyallup Police.

Stolen vehicle found: A vehicle stolen from the 500 block of N. Meridian on Feb. 24 was located by Tacoma Police March 11. It was missing the front license plate.

Vehicle prowls: Multiple vehicles were burglarized at the Orion Townhomes in the 500 block of Valley Ave. N.E. on March 11 and March 12. Some vehicles were unlocked. Among the stolen items: a Glock 19 pistol, MP3 players, a first aid pouch and loose change.

Commercial burglary arrest: A 29-year-old man arrested by Federal Way Police allegedly confessed to burglarizing Berco Construction in Puyallup and scrapping metal “vehicle tracks” stolen there Feb. 26.

March 14, 2013:

Guns stolen: An SKS rifle and 9-millimeter pistol were taken from an unlocked residence in the 900 block of Eighth St. S.E. when the homeowner left for 30 minutes. No suspects.

Hit and run, DUI, Eluding: A 46-year-old man was arrested after he struck a vehicle then fled.

Shoplift, assault: Two people stole liquor from Top Food. When one suspect was detained, the liquor dropped and broke.  The other suspect returned to help and bit a loss prevention employee in the hand. One suspect fled in a vehicle but left her cell phone behind.

Escape warrant arrest: Police arrested a man with a Department of Corrections escape community custody warrant  n the parking lot of Karshner Elementary School after an employee reported people who were not supposed to be there.

March 15, 2013

Truck stolen: 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup was stolen when the victim left it running in the 1000 block of Valley Ave. N.W. Video showed two people getting in and driving off. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office recovered it the next day with the seats, A/C, stereo and other interior items missing.

Arson, involuntary committal: Units responded to a home in the 600 block of Ninth St. N.W. when a resident set fire to her curtains. Family members put out the fire before police arrived. The resident was involuntarily committed.

March 17, 2013

Motor vehicle theft: A suspect stole a Yamaha quad from Sunset Auto Wholesale, 436 N. Meridian, breaking in through a gate where the lock had been cut. The vehicle was found behind the Kanpai Japanese restaurant nearby. Video showed a 17- to 25-year-old white male wearing a light colored baseball cap, short dark hair, black jacket, and baggy/saggy dark jeans as the suspect.

DUIs: Four people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, with breath tests showing alcohol levels of 0.11 or higher. The legal limit is 0.08.

March 19, 2103

Stolen cars: A dark green 1995 Honda Accord was stolen from the River Trail Apartments in the 1600 block of E. Main, and a gray, four-door 2006 Honda Accord with a spoiler was stolen from the 2400 block of 12th Ave. N.W. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office recovered the green Accord the next day in Bonney Lake with both plates missing.
