Sound Transit Construction Closing 3rd Ave Near Puyallup Station
Drivers will want to avoid the area this week, as the road will be closed through much of the day.
PUYALLUP, WA — Sound Transit is warning the public of a construction project that will close a stretch of 3rd Avenue Northwest near their Puyallup Station this week.
Construction started Tuesday and is expected to last roughly a week, depending on the weather.
It has closed 3rd Avenue NW between 6th and 7th streets. The work will also close the southern sidewalk on 3rd Avenue NW for two weeks. The north sidewalk will be shut down even longer, crews say it's closed until early 2022.

The new closures come in addition to a few other closures in the same area. 3rd Avenue Northwest was already permanently closed between 5th and 6th streets. Sidewalks have also been closed on the east side of 6th Street and the west side of 5th street.

The construction is part of a $79.1 million dollar project to expand the parking space at the Puyallup Sounder station.
