16 St. Patrick's Day Weekend Events In Puget Sound

REDMOND, WA - In the 1870s, an Irishman named Luke McRedmond claimed a piece of land at the north end of Lake Sammamish as his homestead. He probably didn't know it then, but his little plot would eventually be the city of Redmond, home of Microsoft and Nintendo, and one of the state's most prosperous places.

The Seattle area isn't associated with the Irish like Boston, Chicago, or New York City, but the history is there, and never is it on display so proudly as on St. Patrick's Day.

St. Patrick's Day is on a Sunday this year, but the entire weekend is packed with Celtic-themed events. Here are just some events happening in honor of Luke McRedmond and all the cops, firemen, bar owners, and attorneys general (Bob Ferguson, Rob McKenna) who helped build Puget Sound.

2019 Irish Festival: Saturday and Sunday at the Seattle Center Armory.

Green Stripe Laying: The precursor to the main St. Patrick's Day parade, members of the Seattle Irish Heritage Club will paint a green stripe down 4th Avenue beginning at 7 p.m.

Seattle St. Patrick's Day Parade: Begins at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and runs along 4th Avenue between Westlake and James.

St. Patrick's Day At Fado Irish Pub: Begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and keeps going until midnight Sunday. Features music, food, Guinness, and the chance to win a trip to Ireland.

St. Patrick's Day In Kirkland: Celebrate with Irish heritage performances at the Kirkland Performance Center beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday.

LepreCon St. Patrick's Day Crawl: Crawl through downtown Seattle in Irish garb. Happens Saturday and Sunday. More info here.

St. Patrick's Day Cupcakes: Elemental Hard Cider in Woodinville will serve mini cupcakes in flavors like Irish stout and Bailey's buttercream. Chow down beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Peter Pan: We're not sure if he's Irish, but he wears green. See the play on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Renton's Carco Theater.

St. Patrick's Day Arm Wrestling Championship: 10 p.m. on Sunday at the Victory Lounge in Seattle.

Suite Restaurant & Lounge: Specials on Jameson whiskey and Guinness all weekend at this Bellevue spot. No cover.

Apogee Pub: Celebrate with drinks and Irish music at this Renton bar. The Washington Bag Pipe Band will play Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

St. Patrick's Day Bluegrass: Local bluegrass musicians will play Celtic songs at the Easy Monkey Taphouse in Shoreline on Sunday beginning at 7 p.m.

Leprechaun Hunt: A family scavenger hunt at the Kruckenberg Botanic Garden in Shoreline. Starts Saturday at 10 a.m. Free.

JJ Mahoney's Pub: This Redmond bar will celebrate Luke McRedmond beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday with drink specials and music.
