LWSF WELCOMES LAW ENFORCEMENT MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL SUSIE KROLL AS KEYNOTE

Redmond, WA, February 20, 2020 – This year’s Lake Washington Schools Foundation’s “Be the Bridge” benefit luncheon on March 26 features keynote speaker Susie Kroll, founding Mental Health Professional and crisis responder with several local police departments and emcee Alison Grande, Emmy award winning KIRO 7 journalist. Alongside Lake Washington School District and community partners, LWSF is using their annual luncheon as a platform to continue their message of awareness for youth mental health issues. Since last year’s luncheon, LWSF has taken several steps to ensure more resiliency and success for all students and will continue to grow their efforts with community support.

“LWSF as an organization has committed to supporting youth mental wellness among students in the district. In our new three-year strategic plan, youth mental wellness is an entire pillar of focus. The numbers reveal a strong need among our students for a broad multi-year, community-wide investment in social and emotional support,” said LWSF Executive Director Helen Sernett. “We are happy to welcome Susie Kroll to address our luncheon guests. Her groundbreaking leadership in crisis response has given her a unique and inspiring perspective on how our community can help students build resiliency and develop mental health strategies.”

“While I am a huge proponent of folks going and seeking help once they feel there’s an issue, I am an even bigger proponent of doing behavioral health and mental healthcare before there’s an issue,” said Ms. Kroll.

Kroll will be joined by local speakers who will share how mental health has impacted their lives as well as ways to take action against these challenges experienced by youth.
