Redmond Brush Fire Extinguished Along West Lake Sammamish Parkway
Firefighters were called to a brush fire near Old Redmond Road on Wednesday afternoon.
REDMOND, WA — A brush fire burning along West Lake Sammamish Parkway prompted a large emergency response in Redmond on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Redmond Police Department, the flames were burning north of State Route 520, close to Old Redmond Road. Officers have closed the southbound lanes of 154th Ave. NE at NE 85th Street during the fire response.
Just after 2 p.m., a spokesperson for the police department told Patch the fire was under control and the roads were expected to reopen soon.
Wednesday's brush fire comes amid a hot and dry stretch of weather, following three of the driest months on record. Afternoon temperatures in Redmond on Wednesday were forecast to hit 87 degrees.
