Giving Food To Families In Need: Redmond Heroes

We all know someone who's making a difference in this difficult time. Let's help share these amazing stories!

REDMOND, WA — As the coronavirus outbreak has spread across the country, thousands of everyday heroes have stepped up to help their communities in a time of crisis. We all know someone who's making a difference right now, making our days a little brighter as we push forward into an uncertain future. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize those everyday heroes who are giving it their all.

This submission comes from Karene Busby of Redmond, who nominated her friends and co-organizers with the Redmond Nourishing Network School Box Program gang: Kristen, Fran, Sandy, Joanne, and Linda.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
This compassionate group of women had a dream to continue supplying boxes of food to the families in need around the Redmond Education Hill school area after the unexpected schools closure. Prior to the stay at home orders the women accepted prepack boxes from the community to give to the families. With the wonderful support of our friends, clubs. Churches, and individuals this group with help from the community has delivered, (yes they deliver because many families do not have transportation or gas money to pick up their boxes) over 560 boxes and counting as of May 14th.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?
Compassion!!
