Help Shape Redmond's Arts And Culture Future
Redmond is looking to recruit two community members to serve on the city's Arts & Culture Commission, beginning in July.
REDMOND, WA — Redmond is seeking volunteers to serve on its Arts & Culture Commission, tasked with guiding the city's growing arts programs and garnering community input. Right now, there are two vacancies on the nine-member commission, and each term is for three years.
In describing the commission's role, the city writes:
"The Commission continues to enhance the quality of life in Redmond by advising staff and City Council on public programs that build community, celebrate diversity, and enhance the vitality and identity of Redmond through performing, visual, and participatory arts. The current work plan for the Commission includes advising staff and City Council on growing the arts in Redmond through the Poet Laureate program, the Arts Season grant program, and more. The Commission will also provide recommendations on several upcoming public art projects, including several City and regional transportation projects in Redmond. "
Commissioners generally meet on the second Thursday of every month and occasionally will be invited to serve on special committees, attend City Council meetings and participate in community events. Both vacancies would have a start date in July. Applications for the volunteer spots are open who work or live in Redmond. Both positions will be open until filled, but residents are encouraged to apply by June 4.
