Local teen wins silver in international roller skating meet
Natasha Kacharia , a Redmond resident, sophomore at The Overlake School wins silver in America's Cup
Natasha Kacharia, a sophomore at The Overlake School won silver at America's Cup Roller Skating Championship, held in Kissimmee, Florida on January 13-16, 2017. In this event countries from North America, South America, Central America and Europe participated. Kacharia won silver medal in Youth Women Figures, U- 17 event.
Natasha has been skating since the last 8 years. She has won 7 medals at US National Championships over the years. Her dream is to represent United States in the Roller Skating World Championship. This year the World Championships are in Nanjing, China. While not an official sport in the summer Olympic Games, Roller Sports is a "recognized sport" by the International Olympic Committee and the United States Olympic Committee
Kacharia says, “I get up at 4 AM in the morning – do homework, prepare for quizzes/tests, and then go to school. After school, I drive to Lynnwood which is 45 minutes away, and skate for a few hours. I love skating and it is my passion and I hope to represent United States in Roller Skating World Championship.”
