Redmond Companies Recognized by King County for Waste Prevention Efforts

Redmond-based Hot Off the Press won the "Re-Inventor Award" for making its entire printing process environmentally friendly.

Thirteen Redmond workplaces have been honored by King County for their waste prevention and recycling efforts.

The annual Best Workplaces for Waste Prevention and Recycling honors local companies and organizations who meet a series of environmentally friendly benchmarks, such as offering reusable or compostable dishes in office kitchens and sending electronic invoices.

Redmond-based Hot Off the Press received the new Re-Innovator of the Year award for its efforts at "greening" its entire printing process. The company has a program to re-use rather than recycle excess paper and has made its printing process 98 percent digital.

“Spending a little time reviewing what your company’s waste products are, then researching who could use those products can lead to successful partnerships while benefiting the environment,” Andrew Koeppen, managing director at Hot Off The Press, said in a news release. “We donate scrap paper to schools and non-profits which has helped to reduce waste and cut costs.”
