Redmond Detectives Investigate Infant's Suspicious Death

Redmond detectives said the death of a 3-month-old boy Wednesday appeared suspicious, but so far no arrests have been made.

REDMOND, WA — Detectives continue to investigate an infant's death as suspicious after a 3-month-old boy was found dead inside a Redmond apartment Wednesday morning, the police department confirmed Thursday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive child at an apartment complex on the 18300 block of Northeast 98th Way around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Paramedics rushed to the scene and determined the infant had died, police said.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office is still determining the cause of death, but police said it appeared to be suspicious. A preliminary investigation revealed the baby's mother, described as a juvenile, had left the baby with the residents of the apartment before traveling outside Washington, detectives said. So far, police have not made an arrest, named a suspect, or shared more information about the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
