REDMOND, WA - One street in particular here is lined with dead trees, weakened by periods of drought over the past few years.
So, next week, the city will remove more than 40 trees along 185th Avenue Northeast between Northeast 76th Street and State Route 202.
"Multiple seasons of extended drought have resulted in stressful growing conditions for both newly planted and established trees," Redmond city arborist Chris Tolonen said in a press release.

The tree removals will begin Jan. 17. City crews will replace each dead tree with a new planting. For drivers and pedestrians, crews may take up space in the parking lane, and many occasionally close sidewalks in the area.
