REDMOND, WA — With teens and preteens now eligible to receive doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, Washington's second-largest school district is moving forward with plans to give students 12 and older an easy way to get immunized.

The Lake Washington School District is King County's fastest-growing public school system, serving roughly 31,000 students primarily in Redmond, Kirkland and about half of Sammamish. On Friday, the district announced a new partnership with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to offer more than 4,000 doses to students over next weekend, May 22 and May 23.

"Now that our secondary students 12 and older are eligible to be immunized, we are excited to work with SVNA to make it easier for families to access vaccinations for their children," said Jon Holmen, LWSD Superintendent. "We know that for many of our students, becoming vaccinated will open opportunities for them to re-engage in typical activities at school, with their friends, and in the community that many have missed out on for more than a year."
