There's something magnetic about puppies. Their innocence, perseverance and zest for life is contagious.
But what about the less-than desirable pups, the ones with birth defects and abnormalities that make them more work than your average dog?
One rescue group, The Mia Foundation, is working to give some lucky dogs a fighting chance on the play yard.

Meet 'Amazing Mick,' a 6-week-old Boston Terrier whose chest was flat and legs were splayed out to the side just a few weeks ago. This condition is known as "Swimmer Puppy Syndrome," and usually results in death by a few months of age.Â
Today, Mick has overcome all odds. With a lot of hard work and support, he's well on his way to a happy and normal life.
