Couple Donates Big Rig to Help Children’s Health

An Edmonds couple with a longtime interest in big-rig trucks has used a decades-old stock investment to help improve children’s health.

The pair have been fans of Kenworth Truck Co. since they lived near a Kenworth factory in Seattle 60 years ago and watched the brand new trucks leave the plant for test drives. That’s when they decided to buy stock in Paccar, Kenworth’s Bellevue-based parent company.

They recently decided to use that investment to benefit children’s health, donating stock worth nearly $150,000 to buy a new Kenworth T660 for the Northwest Lions Foundation, which it uses to transport a mobile health screening unit.

Kirkland-based Kenworth Truck Co. plans to recognize them Thursday at its Renton plant. Check back Thursday for more on this story.
