RENTON, WA — Christmas came a little early for 12s this year: Marshawn Lynch has returned to the Seattle Seahawks, helping fulfill the needs of a team that lost two running backs to injuries against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Pete Carroll had announced Lynch's visit to Seattle during his radio show Monday morning. Carroll said #24 had a good chance of returning to the team but would need to pass a physical.

Monday evening, Ian Rapoport tweeted Lynch had indeed passed the physical, and later that night NFL agent Doug Hendrickson posted a photo of the contract on social media. The NFL confirmed the news themselves shortly after 8:30 p.m.

The Associated Press reports Lynch has not played in more than a year. His last game was in Week 6 of last season with the Oakland Raiders, before he was sidelined with an injury. Lynch rushed for 6,346 yards and 57 touchdowns during the regular season over his six years with Seattle. He will be reunited with his former backup, running back Robert Turbin, who posted a locker room photo on his Instagram Monday afternoon.
