Rally At Kent Maternity Clinic Aims To Highlight 'Trumpcare' Cuts

From Indivisible WA8: Trumpcare would have a devastating impact on millions of Americans. Here in the eighth congressional district, Indivisible is shining a light on how people here will be hurt if the Affordable Care Act is repealed.

Indivisible will host a rally on Saturday, July 8, outside the Birch Creek Public Health Clinic in Kent at 10 a.m. Birch Creek, which provides maternity counseling and support services to new mothers, would close if Trumpcare passes because it relies on Medicaid funding.

Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell are fighting Trumpcare in the Senate. If it passes, members of the House will have to vote on the measure again. Rep. Dave Reichert was one of the few no votes the first time – though he waited to state his position until the GOP had enough votes to pass the measure. Now is the time for Reichert to stand up and show some leadership on behalf of his constituents, including those who use the Birch Creek clinic, and fight for our health care.

The Senate’s Trumpcare bill destroys Medicaid, it increases health costs for middle-class families, it cuts coverage for pre-existing conditions, it eliminates funding for Planned Parenthood … and it does this to green-light a massive tax cut for millionaires and billionaires.

Our elected officials must do everything in their power to ensure that this bill does not pass. The real cost to people here in our communities is too high.
