Renton Census 2020 hits 67% - New Be Counted Song Released
Renton is at 66.9% for Census 2020 self-response participation. A new "Be Counted" Census Music Video by the Tacoma Refugee Choir released.
Ginna Hernandez, Census Program Manager for the City of Renton, announced Thursday that the Renton's self-response rate for Census 2020 is at 66.9%. In an email Hernandez also shared some exciting new efforts to spur community awareness for households to complete their census:
* A new "Be Counted" Census Music Video has been produced by the Tacoma Refugee Choir.
* Renton residents only can get $10 Torero's Gift Card by emailing proof of completion to Ravishing Women info@ravishingwomen.org. Subject: Census - Torero's

* Renton residents can also enter a chance to win a $300 Wal-Mart Gift Card. Enter proof of census completion to info@ravishingwomen.org. Subject: Census - Wal-Mart
* Student Census Art Contest deadline extended to May 30. First prize $100. Second prize $75. Third prize $50. There will be 10 honorable mentions at $25 each.

The 1/3 of Renton households that haven't completed their legally-mandated census now have even more reason to take action: these incentives plus the ability to make a difference for the community. The census provides federal funding for Renton over the next decade for schools, hospitals, transportation, seniors, veterans and so many more.
Finally everyone who completes their census prevents a field worker from having to visit your home. Now more then ever let's reduce the need for in-person visits. Let's keep everyone safe and healthy.
