Renton Farmers Market Aims Spotlight on Culinary Arts, Downtown Restaurants

The Renton Farmers Market re-opens this afternoon at the Piazza, located on the north side of Third Avenue between Burnett Avenue and Logan Avenue.

Farm-fresh eggs, meats and produce. Hand-crafted cheeses. Local honey.

Come this afternoon, all you'll need to do is come to downtown Renton to get these and more at the Renton Farmers Market, opening today, June 4.

Market Manager Carrie Olson said this year's market aims to elevate the cuisine of local Renton restaurants. The "Taste of Renton" will feature one local restaurant dishing up samples from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday through September.

Organizers are also making recipe cards available for shoppers at the information booth each week, while they last.

More than 60 vendors each week are open 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, from June 4 through September 24, selling goods including farm fresh produce and flowers, baked goods, seafood, meat, eggs, honey, and dairy.

Renton Mayor Denis Law will officially ring the bell to kick off the market season in downtown Renton at the Piazza, located at on the north side of Third Avenue between Burnett Avenue and Logan Avenue, at 3 p.m.

Biff Moss is slated to take the entertainment stage from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the featured "Taste of Renton" restaurant will be Torero's from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
