Renton Police Bust Teen In Assault And Rape, Cite Video Evidence
Police said they've arrested a 15-year-old in connection with what they call a "brutal assault and rape" that happened last week.
RENTON, WA – A 15-year-old from Renton is in jail in connection with a rape and assault last week. Police, who say the teen's name won't be released because of his age, have referred to the attack as "brutal."
The teen admitted to the crime, according to police.
They say that a search warrant was executed at the teen's home where hey found "several pieces of evidence" backing up his admission and tying the teen to the attack.

Police say that the teen was one of two men caught on camera attempting to sell a cell phone belonging to their victim at the Rainier Avenue Fred Meyer the day after the attack.
The second man was later identified as an acquaintance of the teen. Police say that he had no knowledge of or involvement with the crime.

The attack happened last Wednesday near the downtown Renton Library at around 3 a.m. The woman was carrying a personal alarm, and was able to set it off after the attacker left. A Renton officer heard, finding the woman injured near the 300 block of Mill Avenue South.
The attacker led the woman to the secluded area and then spent an hour raping, strangling, and beating her, police said. She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
