Renton Police: Grenade Found at Recycling Plant, and Pepper Spray Disperses Fighting Crowd

The following excerpts from police logs covering June 25 to July 2 were provided by the Renton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 26, 2013

Grenade Found: Police responded to Rock Tenn Recycling at 11:05 p.m. for a report an employee found a grenade on the line during a recycling process. It was isolated when police arrived. The responding officer assessed the object and determined it was suspicious enough to call the King County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad. Bomb investigators determined it was an inactive grenade. It was filled with BBs making it hard to x-ray its contents and the primer was designed to mimic an active primer.

June 29, 2013

Fight: Police used pepper spray to break up a crowd of about 100 people outside near the 300 block of Main Avenue S at 1:21 a.m. after they responded to reports and observed fighting among several groups in the area. No injuries were reported and subjects all fled on foot so could not be identified.
