Renton Police: Taxi Cab Dispute Involving Dogs Spills into Roadway

The following information from July 3 through July 9 was excerpted from the Renton Police Department's weekly logs. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 3, 2013

Gun Reported: Police responded to North 3rd Street at Meadow Avenue North at about 10 p.m. for a report someone had pulled a gun on the man reporting the incident. The man gave officers a description. They detained a second man who appeared to match that description and the reporting party confirmed it was him, but officers found no weapon in the man's vehicle, his children told police he was with them when they ran into car trouble, and he was older than described. His vehicle also didn't match the description and had been positioned in a way that was inconsistent with the reporting party's information. He was released from the scene.

July 4, 2013

Eluding: An unidentified man eluded a police officer who in a fully marked vehicle had attempted to conduct a traffic stop after observing the man make an illegal left turn onto Houser Way on the 1400 block at about 6:15 p.m. The officer pursued the driver to the Liberty Park skate park before being forced to stop when the motorcycle continued on a narrow sidewalk. The registered owner was identified but the officer couldn't make a positive ID given the helmet the suspect was wearing.

July 5, 2013

Residential Burglary: Police responded to a residence on the 300 block of Powell Avenue S.W. at 12:51 a.m. for a report of a break-in. The resident reported someone broke into the home by breaking the glass on a rear sliding door to the home sometime after 6 p.m. on July 4 and 12:35 a.m. July 5 and stole a black BMW along with other electronic equipment and keys to a family business. The house had been rummaged through and an errant bottle of liquor was discovered that did not belong to the residents.

Obstruction: Police arrested a man for obstructing a police officer after physically tussling with him near Burnett Avenue S. and S. 4th Street when he refused to cooperate in a potential domestic dispute situation. An officer reported observing the man yelling at a woman at that location at about 10:51 p.m. but when he went to investigate, the man walked away and was uncooperative. When the man's stance reportedly became aggressive, the officer tried to subdue him which led to the fight. A Taser was deployed to control the man. The officer involved in the fight sustained abrasions to his face.

July 7, 2013

Residential Burglary: Police responded to a home on the 2600 block of N.E. 19th Street for a report someone broke in between 8:30 p.m. the night before at 11:45 a.m. that morning. The glass window in the rear door to the garage had been broken out and a bedroom had been ransacked. The victim had not yet had a chance to survey what was missing but suspected jewelry was taken.

July 9, 2013

Disorderly Conduct: Police arrested a man for disorderly conduct after responding to 128th Avenue S.E. at Petrovitsky Road at 6:19 p.m. for a report of a dispute in the middle of the road between him and a taxi driver. The man was reportedly non-cooperative with police and said the driver refused to give him back his dogs; he had jumped out of the cab, he said, because he thought the driver was lost. The driver said the man was acting erratically and jumped out of the cab. He held on to the dogs until the man paid. A police search of the man found no cash or credit cards on him.
