Sex Offender Accused of Peeping on Renton Bikini Barista

A 47-year-old Maple Valley man allegedly watched a woman changing through a window at the Cowgirls Espresso stand near Coulon Park.

A Maple Valley man is facing charges of voyeurism after police say he climbed on top of an ice box to watch a bikini barista change her clothes inside a Renton espresso stand.

According to charging documents, the 20-year-old barista arrived for work at a Cowgirls Espresso stand on Lake Washington Boulevard North at around 4:20 a.m. on Feb. 26 to find a man—later identified as Garth B. Olsen—standing outside the business.

The woman told police she informed Olsen the espresso stand would not open for another 20 minutes, and he told her he would wait. The barista went into the business' bathroom to change her clothes and had stripped down to her underwear when, according to police, she heard a loud bang and looked up to see Olsen staring at her from a window. "Let me see your ass," Olsen allegedly shouted at the woman. "You're a (expletive) whore."

The barista called police on her cell phone while hiding in a corner of the bathroom, according to charging documents. Officers who responded to the call said the woman was visibly shaken and that "she was frightened that Olsen would break a window or kick a door in to get to her."

Renton Police located Olsen a short time later near Lake Washington Boulevard North and North 20th Street, according to charging documents, and found a piece of paper on his person that contained the barista's license plate number and the words "Cowgirl Espresso" written above it.

During an interview, the documents indicate, Olsen admitted to spying on the barista and said he planned to use her license plate number to find more information about her online.

Olsen, who has a prior conviction for voyeurism, is being held at the King County Jail on $50,000 bail.
