Today in Renton: Local History, Fun Walk, Art Show Preview Party Lead into River Days Celebration

Though Renton River Days isn't officially starting until this Friday, July 26, many organizations are ramping up for the weekend celebration with activities and events of their own.

Though Renton River Days isn't officially starting until this Friday, July 26, many organizations are ramping up for the weekend celebration with activities and events of their own.

From the event website www.rentonriverdays.org, here are three things going on today, Thursday, July 25 you might want to consider:

1) Renton History Museum: Admission is free this entire festival week leading up to the weekend, and the museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily Tuesdays through Sundays. Visit http://rentonwa.gov/rentonhistorymuseum/ for more information.

2) Volkssports Fun Walk: Start at the Kennydale Memorial Hall (2424 NE 27th St.) to register and the walk begins at 9 a.m. running to 11 a.m.

Features include trail walks in May Creek and Honey Creek with special 1K, 2K, 3K, and 4K routes for children. 5K and 10K routes will explore Canyon Trails and local neighborhoods. Group walk for a 10K starts at 9:30 am. Fun Walks on July 25 also supported by Renton Trails Organization.

3) Renton Annual Art Show Preview: Cost to attend the preview party at the Renton Community Center for the juried fine arts show, starting at 8 p.m. is $20 per person. Call 425-254-9934 or visit www.rentonannualartshow.com for information.
