Valley Medical Center has been ranked No. 11 in Washington state as part of U.S. News & World Report's annual Best Hospitals survey.
The publication says its rankings were devised using patient death rates and physician surveys, among other factors. Nearly 4,800 hospitals around the nation were evaluated in 16 medical specialties, and the facilities designated as high performing in at least one of these areas were ranked at the state or regional level.
Valley Medical Center tied 11th with Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Its emergency room had 74,622 visits."
University of Washington Medical Center topped the list for Washington state, followed by EvergreenHealth Medical Center at No. 2 and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane at No. 3. Harborview Medical Center and Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane rounded out the top five.
