WSP Conducting Emphasis Patrols on SR 167, I-5 Corridors in South King County This Week
Troopers are concentrating efforts on DUI, distracted and aggressive drivers on both roadways, plus SR 18 and the section of I-405 that completes the 'South County Metro Loop.'

Washington State Patrol troopers are conducting a special emphasis patrol from July 1 through July 6 as part of their South County Metro Loop Project.
Troopers from several specialized units will concentrate their efforts on DUI, distracted and aggressive drivers on the NB/SB corridors of I-5 and SR 167. The loop includes the connector freeways of I-405 and SR 18 making the “South County Metro Loop.”
In this emphasis area, data has shown that since 2010, there have been 25 preventable fatal collisions along with a high number of 911 emergency calls of reports of possible DUIs, aggressive and erratically driven vehicles.
This effort is in support of the WSP’s goal of reducing statewide traffic fatalities to zero by the year 2030.
