Big Rock Park Central Opens, Adding More Acres To Explore
Joining Big Rock Park North, the 20-acre addition add another 1.5 miles of trails, along with a massive garden and restored treehouse.
SAMMAMISH, WA — Big Rock Park Central has opened to visitors in Sammamish, adding on another 20 acres of forest and meadows to explore. The new addition joins its northern neighbor, Big Rock Park North, for a combined three miles of trails.
Three parcels, totaling 51 acres, were gifted to the city by Mary Pigott in 2010, and the northern 15 acres opened to the public in 2016. The southernmost parcel is still Pigott's private property and will be officially donated to the city at a future date, officials said.
The central addition will soon include the newly restored Reard House, a farmhouse dating back to the 19th century. The city said interior restoration work, led by the Sammamish Heritage Society, is in its final stages, with plans to open exhibits and displays.

The city also worked with the Sammamish Botanical Garden Society to build a 6,000 square foot Heritage Garden, which will be open to visitors during regular hours. Visitors will also have a few opportunities each month to check out a fully restored treehouse, first built for Pigott's grandkids.
Officials encourage visitors to plan for limited on-site parking and be prepared to park elsewhere.
