Airport Visitor Pass Program Returns To Sea-Tac

A new program at the airport allows non-ticketed visitors past security, to see family and friends off to their gates or welcome them home.

SEATAC, WA —A new program at Sea-Tac Airport will allow non-ticketed visitors through security, allowing Washingtonians to see off departing friends and loved ones at their gates, or welcome them home on arrival. Sea-Tac launched the SEA Visitor Pass as a pilot program last year and accommodated more than 1,000 participants during the six-week trial run.

Under the permanent program, 100 pre-approved will be allowed through security without tickets daily. Visitors can apply online the same day of their visit, or up to a week in advance until the daily maximum is met.

Once approved for a Visitor Pass, guests will receive a QR code that allows them entry at security checkpoint 3. Non-ticketed guests are allowed seven days a week, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Passes will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis, and visitors are not required to be accompanied by a ticketed passenger.

The Seattle Times reports airport officials described the program as an effort to restore "some degree of normalcy," after airport security measures underwent major changes nationwide following the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
