Calm, Sunny Days Return Ahead Of More Weekend Rain: WA Forecast

Even with the recent rains, this month is on track to go out as one of Washington's driest Aprils on record, forecasters said.

SEATTLE — Temperatures are warming back up, and Western Washington is looking at a few days of clear, dry weather before the rain comes back. According to the latest forecasts, the warming trend will continue through at least Thursday, with plenty of chances for the sun to peek out from behind the clouds.

Afternoon highs should hit the low 70s by Thursday, before the next chance of rain returns heading into Friday morning. Earlier in the month, Seattle logged a record 7-day stretch of April temperatures at or above 70 degrees. The latest round of nicer weather won't last nearly as long but should provide a nice break for the next few days.

"Thursday looks to be the warmest day of the forecast period with most interior lowland locations getting into the upper 60s to lower 70s, while the coast jumps into the lower 60s," forecasters wrote Monday. "The incoming weather system will bring temps down a little on Friday, with temps falling into the lower to mid-60s inland and the mid-5s on the coast. Saturday and Sunday see temps fall back in line with seasonal normals as interior temps return to right around 60."

Here's the 5-day weather outlook for the Seattle region:

  • Tuesday: 61°/47° (Mostly cloudy)
  • Wednesday: 66°/50° (Partly sunny)
  • Thursday: 71°/51° (Mostly cloudy)
  • Friday: 62°/50° (Chance of rain)
  • Saturday: 60°/48° (Chance of rain)

Even with the recent rain, and another shot Friday, the National Weather Service expects this month will land in the 10 driest Aprils on record.
