Catfish Corner Returns With New Skyway Location
The local institution has opened a new location south of Seattle, and the owner is planning two more in the Central District and Puyallup.

SKYWAY, WA — Jackson's Catfish Corner is back, but with a new name, new location, and plans for expansion.
After a year on hiatus, the local revered local classic opened its first new location in Skyway on April 1. Owner Terrell Jackson said he's taken the last year to re-brand the family business, now just called Catfish Corner.
The Skyway "express" location is just the start. He's planning to open a full-service Catfish Corner at 23rd Avenue and Jackson in the Central District, and wants to expand south to the Meridian strip in Puyallup.

Jackson's parents opened the original restaurant at Cherry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in 1985, but it closed 2014. Jackson opened a new location at 21st Avenue and Fir Street in 2016 before closing last February after he got another job offer.
The Skyway location is somewhat of a homecoming for Jackson. He's lived in Skyway since 1999, and graduated from nearby Rainier Beach High School in 2003. The new location used to be the home of an Ezell's fried chicken restaurant. Jackson knows the family, and they tipped him off about the availability of the space, which is in a small plaza near a Grocery Outlet.

Jackson hasn't had a grand opening yet, but he's planning a celebration for the neighborhood when the weather gets nicer. Still, the Skyway location was busy during a recent lunch hour recently with people lining up for hush puppies, Ohbama burgers, and catfish. And Jackson can tell people are excited about the new Catfish Corner.
"We've been breaking a lot of necks," he says, describing reactions to the iconic yellow and black catfish logo as people drive by.
"It's like the Nike logo, people just know us."
