SEATTLE, WA – It's been a good run for the Nordstrom store at Northgate Mall. The company says that nearly 60 years after first opening, the store will close on Aug. 9.

The closing is, in part, being forced by the fact that much of the mall is being demolished to make room for Seattle's new, still-unnamed, National Hockey League team.

Two hotels and office space will also be built on the site.

Nordstrom has been at Northgate, though in a different building early on, since 1950 when the family-owned business opened a shoe store.

The store's closing doesn't mean the company will no longer have a presence at the mall.
