NWS: Soggy Tuesday Incoming, But Summer Weather On The Way
If Puget Sound can tough out scattered showers Tuesday, we'll be rewarded with temperatures in the 70s and possibly 80s this weekend.

SEATTLE — It's been a rainy, muggy few days, but sunny skies are set to return to Western Washington later this week.
For those of you wondering where summer went … it’s coming back. Highs will rebound to the 70s by Wed, and into the 80s over the weekend.

However, before that happens, Puget Sound will have to tough out one more dreary day. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say to predict a cool Tuesday with scattered showers, even a chance for thunderstorms as a cool weather trough pushes through the region. Models show the best chance for thunder in our area is in the south and in the cascades.
Those thunderstorms are unlikely to cause problems for the Puget Sound region, though a hazardous weather outlook warning has been issued for Central and Eastern Washington during that time.

It is rainy (again) late this morning in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area... After this band of precip moves through the area, there might be some sunbreaks later this afternoon. The showers will decrease tonight and Tuesday and the second half of the week will be sunny and warmer. pic.twitter.com/StNITsN6mL

The rain showers should taper off Tuesday evening. Wednesday morning is expected to be gray with cloudy skies, but the clouds will burn off as the day heats up.
Wednesday will also see highs rise from the mid 60s in the early week to the low 70s, but Thursday is when the party really begins — temperatures are expected to rise to the mid-to-upper 70s and will likely stick around through the weekend.

But that's not all: Monday is set to be even warmer, and parts of the interior could see temperatures break into the 80s. Highs will remain in the 70s for coastal regions. Forecasts past Monday are less precise, but so no signs of any impending cooldowns.
All-in-all, it should be a welcome break from the recent bout of wet weather. According to the National Weather Service this June is already the 20th wettest June on record. The average June sees about 1.45" of rain. As of Sunday, Seattle's rainfall total was 1.87".
