Overnight SR 520 Closures Planned Over Lake Washington May 12-13

State transportation crews will fully close one direction of State Route 520, between Seattle and the Eastside, on two nights next week

SEATTLE — Drivers planning late-night trips across Lake Washington should be prepared for a pair of directional closures planned along State Route 520 next week. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, eastbound lanes will close between Seattle's Montlake Boulevard and the Eastside's 92nd Avenue Northeast on late Wednesday, May 12. The next night's closure will close westbound traffic over the same span.

Eastbound:

  • 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 12 - 5 a.m. Thursday, May 13
  • All associated on- and off-ramps to SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and 92nd Avenue Northeast will be closed.
  • Eastbound traffic on SR 520 from I-5 must exit at Montlake Boulevard.
  • The bicycle and pedestrian path running along the north side of SR 520 will be open across Lake Washington.

Westbound:

  • From 10 p.m. Thursday, May 13 - 5 a.m. Friday, May 14
  • All associated on- and off-ramps to westbound SR 520 between 92nd Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard will be closed.
  • Montlake Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 will be closed (this is an ongoing weeknight occurrence).
  • The bicycle and pedestrian path running along the north side of SR 520 will be open across Lake Washington.

WSDOT said the closures will allow crews to work on the Montlake freeway lid, which will connect neighborhoods in the area via a new park.
