Rain Returns To Puget Sound, Ending Streak Of Sunny Skies

All good things must come to an end.

SEATTLE — It has been a beautiful week of warm temps and sunny skies, but unfortunately it will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Speaking of which — rain. It's coming. According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the clouds we saw gathering in the skies over the Puget Sound region Friday will turn into full-blown rain by Saturday.

That rain will put an end to a nearly record-breaking dry streak for Seattle.

"We're so excited to have a beautiful state, and we're so happy our clouds have now returned," Inslee said.

The governor and other cloud-lovers are in luck: the dour weather will be hanging around for most of the foreseeable future. After a week of 70 degree temps, highs will dip back into the 60s and upper 50s, closer to average for this time of year.

Meteorologists say to expect the rainy Saturday to be followed by scattered showers and partly sunny skies Sunday.

Most longtime Washington residents already know how to handle the rain, but just in case the weather service is reminding drivers to take it slow on the roads this weekend.

As for the long-term forecast, the NWS says to expect a fairly nondescript Monday followed by a "pretty decent day" Tuesday when another warm ridge moves in. Unfortunately, that'll be short-lived as rain is likely to return Wednesday and Thursday.
