Executive Director of Schools Mike Starosky Honored by WA Association of School Administrators

Congratulations to Dr. Mike Starosky, Seattle Public Schools executive director of schools, who received the D.A. Davidson Barbara Mertens Legacy Award.

Presented by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), the award is given to an individual or group who has had a significant impact on public education in Washington.

Dr. Starosky started Seattle Public Schools' leadership program, Lead Up, which recruits and retains school leaders. Under Dr. Starosky's leadership, Lead Up has hired almost 50% Leaders of Color over the last five years.

As part of the award, Dr. Starosky received a gift of $1,000, which he is donating to students in the doctoral Leadership for Learning program at UW.
