See The Most-Searched TV Show Around The Holidays In Washington
The most popular television shows around the end of the year vary by state — see which ones viewers in the evergreen state like the most.
WASHINGTON — When it comes to the holidays, people in our state have a favorite TV show they tune in every year. And for people in the evergreen state, our favorite show on Christmas Day is different from our most-watched show on New Year's Eve, according to research of IMDb data performed by USDish, the cable company known more widely as the Dish Network.
The most-searched-for television show on Christmas Day in Washington is "The Office," the data shows. On New Year’s Eve, Washington's most-searched-for program is "Friends."
Neither of those shows is particularly holiday-themed, but they are both pretty popular. 16 states searched for "The Office" on Christmas, and 26 watched "Friends" on New Year's Eve.

A shoutout must also be given to Montana, South and North Dakota for bucking the trend and watching the X-Files on New Years, even when it's clearly a Halloween show. Weirdly, Alaska also watches X-Files, but on Christmas instead. Perhaps Mulder can investigate why next time he's up north.
Nationally, "The Simpsons" is the most searched for on Christmas Day in 21 states.

The “It’s A Wonderful Life” episode of “House” is the single most popular episode watched on Dec. 25, according to the study.
Though "Friends" is the overwhelming favorite on New Year’s Eve, another 1990s favorite set in New York produced the top-viewed single episode on New Year’s Eve — the “Seinfeld” episode titled “The Millennium.”
The findings only included episodes that originally aired in 1990 or more recently, have more than 1,500 IMDb votes and a rating of 7.5 or higher. Dish then determined the episode’s viewership using the TV Listings viewership archive.
Only a handful of states search for the same show on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
