Sounders Sign Exclusive Streaming Partnership With Amazon Prime

When the season starts this weekend, fans will be able to stream Sounders games over Prime Video.

SEATTLE — Sounders fans who want to stream their games online will now be able to do so, but only if they have Amazon Prime memberships.

Tuesday Sounders FC announced that they had signed an exclusive deal with Amazon Prime Video to make it to sole streaming partner for Rave Green matches. They say it's only the second time Prime has inked a streaming deal with a sports team, and the first they've ever signed with a pro soccer club.

“This is a proud day for our club, as we’re now able to bring our fans Sounders FC matches on the world’s premier video streaming service through a company that is synonymous with our city’s culture. On behalf of our organization, I am thrilled to welcome Amazon and Prime Video to the Sounders family,” said Sounders FC Owner Adrian Hanauer.

The deal means that when the 202 MLS regular season resumes this weekend, all regionally televised Sounders FC matches will be streamable over Prime Video. Amazon says the team will have a dedicated page on the streaming service, allowing viewers to watch matches live, but also to stream archived games and other features like player interviews, press conferences and match highlights.

The new deal will last at least through the 2022 Major League Soccer Season.

“We’re excited to join forces with Sounders FC to give Prime members around Washington State access to all regionally broadcast MLS matches on Prime Video over the next three seasons,” said Marie Donoghue, VP of Global Sports Video at Amazon.

Of course for the less technologically inclined, the games can still be watched traditionally without streaming: matches will continue to be aired over JOEtv and on Sports Radio 950 KJR AM and El Rey 1360 AM.

The season will begin with a match Sunday, August 23 against the Portland Timbers at Providence Park. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
