Around 4:00 a.m., police served search warrants at multiple locations as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. One of those warrants was for a residence in the 1000 block of 7th Avenue Southeast in Puyallup. The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation, but preliminary information indicates when police entered the home, the suspect came down the stairs. One officer fired at the man, striking his lower body. Police recovered two guns near the suspect, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Representatives of the Office of Police Accountability, the Office of Inspector General and the SPD Force Investigation Team responded to the scene.

The involved officer will be placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with SPD policy while the investigation is ongoing.
Per policy, the department will release video of the incident within 72 hours. More information about the narcotics investigation with federal authorities will be forthcoming later today.
