SEATTLE, WA — Worried that your kids won't retain what they learned during the school year after a few months of nonstop television and videos games? Fear not! Check out one of these reading events happening around Seattle this summer that'll keep little minds from going into full meltdown mode.


Pajama Story Time & Family Fun Night

Trade the scary movie, popcorn and extensive cleanup that usually accompanies a summer sleepover for an educational one outside of your home! Pajama Story Time & Family Fun Night is a free, family-friendly event where kids can don their sleepwear in public. Enjoy free refreshments, sing-a-longs and a collaborative arts-and-crafts project. Kids ages 2-11 are welcome to attend, and a chaperone is required. You can't actually sleep at the library.

Where: Lake City Branch Library, 12501 28th Ave.

Father's Day Storytime at Barnes and Noble


Celebrate Father's Day with a fun-filled story at your neighborhood Barnes and Noble. Follow the adventures of four different father-child pairs as they spend the day racing around in shopping carts, popping bubble wrap and watching cartoons with their kids! No matter how grown up these dads might look, they still love to do silly stuff with their little ones. After the story, you can participate in a hands-on activity designed to help bring the book to life. Father's Day Storytime starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.

Kids Book Chat


If your kid gets jealous every time your friends come over for book club, then consider heading to the Northeast Branch of the Seattle Public Library next Wednesday. Kids Book Chat is a family-friendly event where youngsters between the ages of 5-10 have the chance to participate in an interactive project that corresponds with the book from that week. The book chat theme for the summer months is nature. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

When: Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
