Warm, Sunny Weekend In Western Washington Before The Rain Returns

This weekend will be optimal for curing cabin fever, with two more days of clear skies and above-average temperatures in the forecast.

SEATTLE — Western Washington is looking at another gorgeous spring weekend, with another two days of abundant sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures. According to the National Weather Service, Saturday and Sunday could be even a touch warmer than Friday, landing in the mid-70s on both afternoons across Puget Sound. It's also shaping up to be a pleasant weekend along the coast, with temperatures in the 60s.

Forecasters expect little to no clouds, both day and night, with comfortable overnight temperatures in the low 50s. Dry conditions and above-normal temperatures are forecast for the entire Pacific Northwest.

Here's the 5-day weather outlook for the Seattle area:

  • Saturday: 74°/51° (Sunny)
  • Sunday 75°/52° (Sunny)
  • Monday: 70°/51° (Partly sunny)
  • Tuesday: 65°/48° (Chance of showers)
  • Wednesday: 60°/46° (Showers likely)

While area waterways have warmed a bit, many area lakes are still on the cold side, and swimmers are encouraged to consider the conditions. The National Weather Service said rivers are running especially cold due to mountain snow runoff, and fast-flowing water presents another danger.

The serene weather will stick around until at least Monday when forecasters expect a few clouds to roll in as temperatures start to cool off. For those missing the spring showers, the rain is likely to return by Tuesday or Wednesday, and afternoon highs will taper off to the low 60s through the workweek.

Considering next week's cooling trend, it's likely that this weekend will shape up to be a whole lot nicer than Memorial Day.
