19,400 Gallons Of Wastewater Leak Into Puget Sound In Shoreline

The leak happened Monday morning during a power outage at the Richmond Beach Pump Station.

SHORELINE, WA - In just 20 minutes, almost 20,000 gallons of wastewater leaked into Puget Sound from a Richmond Beach pump station on Monday morning during a power outage.

The Richmond Beach Pump Station experienced an overflow during the Monday snowstorm. When a power outage hit, workers at the pump station had to reset the pump. In the interim, 19,400 gallons leaked into the sound, according to the King County Natural Resources and Parks department.

The pump is located at 740 NW 198th Street near Kayu Kayu Ac Park. The power outage occurred around 9 a.m. Monday.
