Annual Celebrate Shoreline Festivities Begin This Week

The Celebrate Shoreline Festival is coming up this weekend, but there will be events honoring the city's 24th birthday all week.

SHORELINE, WA — The city of Shoreline was born on Aug. 31, 1995, and the annual Celebrate Shoreline festivities will happen all week to mark the city's 24th birthday. The week's festivities will culminate in the big Celebrate Shoreline Festival on Saturday.

Here's a rundown of what's coming up this week:

Aug 13: The 13th annual North City Jazz Walk will be held on Aug. 13 along 15th Avenue Northeast in the North City neighborhood. Find tickets and information on the festival website.

Aug. 14: Latin musician Correo Aereo will play at the Kruckeberg Botanical Garden at 6:30 p.m. hosted by the Shoreline Lake Forest Park Arts Council.

Aug. 15, 16, 17: The King's Players Theatre will perform "William Shakespeare's Long Lost Play." The performances happen each night at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Aug. 17: The Celebrate Shoreline Car Show will be held at the city farmers market at the usual location near Central Market. The show begins at 10 a.m.

Aug. 17: The main event, the Celebrate Shoreline Festival, begins at noon at Cromwell Park. The event will feature a day full of music, food, beer and wine, a petting zoo, and much more. The event will also feature local groups performing cultural music and dance. See the full lineup.

Aug. 18: Finally, the Richmond Beach Community Association will host the annual sandcastle-building contest at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park beginning at 11:30 a.m.
