King County Raises Solid Waste Disposal Fees
The new rates apply to recycling and solid waste facilities across King County.

SHORELINE, WA - New solid waste disposal fees went into effect at King County facilities on Jan. 1. The new fees apply to recycling and garbage transfer stations across the county.
The minimum fee increased from $24.25 to $25.25. Residential curbside pickup will increase by about 34 cents for the average customer, according to the county. Private companies collect trash and recycling in most cities, but it gets dropped off largely at county facilities.
The rate increase will pay for maintaining the solid waste system and to build a new transfer facility in south King County to replace the one in Algona.
