Lake Forest Park’s Allen Schauffler Leaves KING 5, Joins Al Jazeera America
The former KING-TV newscaster will head Al Jazeera's network's Seattle bureau, according to media reports.
A familiar face in local media is headed to a new cable audience, as former KING 5 reporter and anchor Allen Schauffler moves to Al Jazeera America’s Seattle bureau.
Schauffler, of Lake Forest Park, told the Seattle Weekly that he “made the leap because he was ready for a change after his decades at King. But he admits that he will have ‘some tremendous branding challenges’--namely getting people to believe that Al Jazeera ‘is a news operation, not a Qatar government propaganda wing.’"
He signed off for the final time on KING on July 28.
