Shoreline Police To Conduct Emphasis Patrols Along Railroad Tracks, Warn Against Criminal Trespass

The tracks are clearly posted with "No Trespassing" signs, and they are extremely dangerous with Amtrak and other trains using them.

May 7, 2020

With the advent of sunny weather, Shoreline residents might be tempted to find ways to access the Puget Sound waterfront. For safety’s sake, please cross the railroad tracks only where crossing is allowed. It’s not only a good idea, it’s the law! And Shoreline Police will be on the job, helping to keep people safe by enforcing this criminal trespass law over the weekend.

The tracks are clearly posted with “No Trespassing” signs, and they are extremely dangerous with Amtrak and other trains using them throughout the day. Crossing the tracks where it’s not allowed is a misdemeanor, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (RCW 9A.52.080).

We are asking Shoreline residents to honor the “No Trespassing” signs in place along the tracks and to cooperate by only using allowed crossings. Have a safe weekend!
