Small Earthquake Felt Near Shoreline This Week

The magnitude 1.5 was measured off of Shoreline on Sunday.

SHORELINE, WA - There was a very small earthquake under Puget Sound off of Shoreline earlier this week.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, a magnitude 1.5 hit just off the shoreline where Boeing Creek empties into Puget Sound on Sunday just after midnight. The earthquake was relatively shallow at about 23 kilometers underground.

Sunday's tiny quake wasn't the only one in the area recently. On March 16, there was a magnitude 1.4 near Lake Ballinger in Mountlake Terrace. And on March 20, there were two small earthquakes in Seattle under Elliott Bay. The larger, a 1.6 magnitude, was located under Harbor Island; a 0.8 magnitude was felt near the Interbay neighborhood.
