SPOKANE, WA -- A man who allegedly swung a machete in public and threatened a child was arrested Sunday evening in Spokane. The incident was reported 5 p.m. in the area of Division Street and Rockwell Avenue, according to the Spokane Police Department.
Police said officers received multiple calls about the machete-wielding man, identified as Sean Herman, 24, who told people he was "going to war." He also allegedly threatened a 12-year-old girl.
The suspect ran from officers who arrived on the scene but was found in a parking lot east of Division on Lacrosse Avenue, police said.

The suspect continued to hold the machete, and made numerous statements that he wanted officers to shoot him. After negotiating with the male for about 20 minutes, officers were able to convince him to drop the machete, and he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Herman faces charges for obstructing, unlawful handling of a weapon apparently capable of producing bodily harm (brandishing), resisting arrest, along with an unrelated felony Department of Corrections warrant. Additional charges are possible.
