From the City of Spokane: The FBI announced a launch of the National Use-of-Force Data Collection to begin on January 1, 2019. At the request of major law enforcement organizations, the FBI established the program to promote more informed conversations about law enforcement use of force in the United States. The goal is to offer a comprehensive view of the circumstances, subjects, and officers involved in such incidents nationwide.

SPD is continuing their commitment to transparency, the desire to employ “best practices” and therefore voluntarily chose to be a part of this program. SPD is one of 16 agencies in Washington State participating.
