Spokane Man Creates Glucose Necklace To Aid Diabetics
The necklace is filled with a fast-acting, edible gel designed to be ingested when a person is undergoing a low blood-sugar emergency.
SPOKANE, WA — After it took EMTs nearly 25 minutes to reach him while having a diabetic emergency during a family camping trip, Spokane EMT Kris Maynard took it upon himself to create a new medical alert device designed to keep people with diabetes alive when their blood sugar is low.
To aid diabetics undergoing a low blood sugar emergency, Maynard developed Glucose Revival Necklaces, which are filled with an edible, fast-acting glucose gel meant to be ingested. The device also was designed with a pendant bearing a blue circle to represent diabetes awareness, and can be personalized with an individual's contact information.
The product is available on Glucose Revival Necklaces' website and Amazon.
