Cooling Center Opens At University Place City Hall Starting June 26
Follow the City Hall signs and take the elevator to the first floor atrium space.

As the region is currently experiencing a heat wave, a cooling center will be opening at University Place City Hall, 3609 Market Place West, for three days starting Saturday, June 26, from 1-8 p.m. Parking will be available in the building’s parking garage, accessible from its entrance on Drexler Drive. Follow the City Hall signs and take the elevator to the first floor atrium space.

The location will have air conditioning and water available to help people during the hot weather. Pierce Transit is providing free rides to cooling centers this weekend.
This site will abide by the State Department of Health recommendations regarding masks, social distancing, and vaccination status.

Remember:
- It is important people drink plenty of water, stay in a cool or air conditioned space and don't overdo it in the heat. Wear sunscreen. Check on pets, children, the elderly and those who struggle in hot weather. Things to do:
- Spend time in air-conditioned places. Visit an air-conditioned mall, movie theater or other cool public place.
- Cover windows that receive morning or afternoon sun.
- Dress in lightweight clothing.
- Check on elderly neighbors and relatives and encourage them to stay cool and drink lots of water regularly.
- Limit the time you spend in direct sunlight.
- Do not leave infants, children, pets or people with limited mobility in a parked car.
- Stay tuned to the radio for updates on emergency information.
